Past history is an important part of present day life, much of todays lessons of life are learned from the lessons of past events of history.
In the past, and the life we lead today, the facts of history can be lost in time as the people that were an indelible part of any historic events become fewer and fewer, such is the case of the British Budo Controversies .
With the demise of the central figures to our budo history, such as Kenshiro Abbe Sensei - Tadashi Abe Sensei - Mutsutaro Otani Sensei - Mutsuro Nakazono, Kazuo Chiba Sensei . We must not forget the many English Budoka that were a part of the early development of British Budo, there are too many to mention here, I must add two of my greatest friends the late Bill Woods Sensei RIP - Gerry Gyngell Sensei RIP. they both worked in the BJC London office with Abbe Sensei, they were a great source for information of those wonderful early days.
As these legendary figures have now passed into history, there are the unscrupulous and shameless characters that will write their own versions of their associations and ``friendships `` with the past Budo masters, their imagination would be more fitting in a sequel of `Harry Potter`.
This book documents two of the most shameless attempts to corrupt our proud heritage and lineage, it also sadly exposes individuals and organisations that to this day offer their full support of many more fraudulent claims . All fraudulent grades and titles are never questioned.
Henry Ellis and Derek Eastman are two of the last few survivors of the Kenshiro Abbe era from the 1950s, with the support of their co-author Abdul Rashid they intend to leave a documented history in all their books of an amazing and historic time of which they were proud to be direct students of Kenshiro Abbe and so many other legendary Budoka from that early era.

The British Aikido Board - Exposed - Blog
This website is dedicated to preserving and protecting the valuable lineage and legacy of British Aikido history from its introduction to the UK in 1955.
There are only two surviving original pioneers alive and still involved in documenting those amazing early days. It has been a worthwhile struggle against organisations and people who have tried to corrupt that history. Those early days when a person would never ever consider elevating their grade to even 5th Kyu (yellow belt) We live in shameless times when people grade themselves higher than Abbe Sensei - Masahilo Nakazono - Kazuo Chiba and other deceased Budo masters. many with the approval and acceptance of the British Aikido Board.

“It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty, and how few by deceit”.
Noel Coward.
Year 2000 - Henry Ellis challenged the collusion between the British Aikido Board and one Jack Poole, Ellis requested an explaination, why was Mr Poole being awarded a BAB pioneer celebtaion award of a Samurai statuette ? Mr Poole wasn't even named on the event programme, ( see event programme below). Mr Poole was one of Ellis's beginner students in 1968, yet, here he was now standing next to his teacher Ellis, claiming to be a pioneer of British Aikido History from 1951. Ellis demanded the BAB show proof of Mr Pooles bizarre claimes to have started Aikido in 1951 with Tadashi Abe in France, this claim was totally destroyed by Pierre Chassang Sensei, personal aide/assistant to Tadashi Abe Sensei from 1950. Chassange Sensei stated " There were no English students with Tadashi Abe in France during the 1950s". Rather than provide the much needed proof to corroborate Mr Poole's incredible history, some morons came up in desperation with the attached web page, as one can clearly see their moral fibre shows who they represent as they attempt to protect their corrupt lineage and grades.
Ellis still has in his possesion the membership attendance records from 1968 showing the date Mr Poole actually signed in as a new member.
As one can see from the adjacent poster the extreme lengths some dim wit associate/s went to great lengths to bizarrely protect both the BAB and Mr Poole. As if this defamation was not enough to ruin them in a court of law.
Ellis has the damning apology from the now ex BAB Communications Executive where he states that all the lies agains Henry Ellis by the BAB secretary Shirley Timms - Chairman Toni Davis - (new) Chairman Vincent Sumpter? were an attempt to protect themselves from a gross error of judgement by supporting Mr J Poole's attempt to completely alter British Aikido History.
Ex - BAB Communications Executives apology added below.
One may well ask " Why does this still matter "? - It matters because the BAB and Mr Poole have never disowned these claimes, therefore, it is now more important as time goes on,there will be no one left to tell the truth. We must never forget the statement from T Davis the then BAB chairman " We the British Aikido Board are not the custodians of British Aikido History, we therefore have no interest in same ".
Dear Henry,
I write this email to once and for all state that I am truly sorry for all of the distress caused to you by my email correspondence which contained information I now know to be complete lies and fabrication. The basis for the lies came from various members of the then BAB Exec team. These meetings were held in both Solihull and Slough at the home of the BAB secretary, Shirley Timm’s. None of the information discussed at these meetings was minuted in any detail with regard to you. It became apparent very quickly they were trying to recover themselves from a huge mistake they had made with regard to awarding Jack Poole an award for time in Aikido when he clearly had not been in Aikido this long. People turned against you in these meetings and started to bad mouth your good name and character with utter rubbish and fabrication.
With Regard (signed) (BAB Communication Officer (name withheld by Henry Ellis for legal reasons).
This is the actual programme of the days events 2000 - Including the list of 5 pioneers of British Aikido History. We were not aware of Mr Pooles inclusion until we were stading in line to be presented with our awards by the Mayor of Birmingham. If anyone can see Mr Poole's name on the programme? please claim your prize of a dan grade certificate of your choice.

The British Aikido History Fraud
" Things gained through unjust fraud are never secure." - Sophocles
Henry Ellis, wishing to avoid a public controversy in regard to the false and fraudulent claims of Mr Jack Poole, a man who's outrageous claims that would attempt to alter the true proud history and lineage of British Aikido, claims which were fully encouraged and supported by the `British Aikido Board's `chief executives, a group who collectively agreed to ignore and disregard the factual irrefutable evidence and promote the myths that would make Jack Poole the first British student of Aikido.
Henry Ellis requested a private meeting between himself, the BAB, and Mr Jack Poole .
Photo left above: The BAB chairman Mr Vincent Sumpter who replied to Henry Ellis's request with a blunt ` NO ', stating he would only `facilitate` a meeting between Ellis and Poole with the cowardly BAB sitting safely in the background as `` observers `` - Ellis refused as he considered the collusion of the BAB as the main instigators of the ` British Aikido History Fraud.

Mr Poole a beginner in 1968 desperately wanted to be recognised as an Aikido pioneer and a `Man of Budo`
Mr Poole's claim to have studied Kendo with Tomio Otani from 1953 - Lie - 1953 Tomio would have been a 14 yr old schoolboy and long before K Abbe Sensei taught Tomio.
Mr Poole and his supporters did not understand that in the 1950s 3rd dan was a very high grade - this was a time long before people like Mr Poole began grading themselves.

SCROLL DOWN to READ THE INCREDIBLE STORY

Awarded the "Snippet Fact.com" Web Award for factual Aikido content.

Mr Jack Poole - a beginner with Henry Ellis Sensei in 1968 - Mr Poole thought no one was looking and re-invented himself - he claimed to be the first pioneer of British Aikido from 1951 as a student of Tadashi Abe Sensei in France - This claim was totally denied by Pierre Chasang Sensei the first personal French student and aide of Tadashi Abe Sensei.
Despite fully knowing these claims were fraudulent, Ms Timms the British Aikido Board secretary offered Mr Poole her full support then, and continues to this day, adding insult to the true pioneers of Kenshiro Abbe Sensei.Ms Timms the BAB secretary proposed the presentation to Mr Poole of a Samurai statue to cement their collusion and conspiracy.
Mr Poole was not on the National Seminar poster - nor was he on the event brochure - yet, Mr Poole's engraved bronze Samurai statue was prepared in advance by the devious BAB along with the statues of the genuine pioneers of UK Aikido. The genuine pioneers had no knowledge of this fraud until the day of the event when Mr Poole sneaked on the end the line up of the. presentation group.
Mr Poole claimed in addition to Aikido, to also have dan grades in Kendo - Karate & Judo - " ALL" these claims were `proven` to be false and without any foundation - Just like Toni Bliar the artful dodgy politician, Mr Poole has now comically changed these claims on his websites to read"""Mr Poole has trained to black belt standard in several martial arts.""" <]:-)
The British Aikido Board not only condone this bullshit - they actually encourage it.

The photo below is the BAB presentation photo given to ``all`` instructors taking part - It reads "BAB National Course 2000 - Presentations to BAB instructors who have been coaching for over 40 years "
To have been coaching for over forty years allows one a minimum of 45 years to reach that position - yet, the BAB were fully aware that Mr Poole had been a beginner with Henry Ellis in 1968. If we were dumb enough to believe Mr Poole's claims, this would make him the first British student of Aikido.
It is comical to read the BAB claim to " Maintain standards in British Aikido ".
